Sligo Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry said he could not vote in favour of legislation to allow for abortion services.
A No supporter in the referendum, Deputy MacSharry said when the referendum was passed that he would respect the decision of the people and would support legislation.
However speaking in the Dail, Deputy MacSharry, said he could not now support the legislation.
He also said comments he made that he feared it would become the contraceptive of choice for people down the line, referred to men and not women.
