A Sligo/Leitrim TD says he hopes the three-month reprieve given to Gurteen post office will eventually lead to its permanent retention.
The south Sligo post office had been due to close at the end of this month but An Post has now confirmed that it will remain open until the end of January.
It’s as a result of the post mistress, who is due to retire, agreeing to remain on for that period.
Fianna Fail TD Eamon Scanlon says confirmation of the reprieve for Gurteen followed the issue having been raised numerous times in the Dail.
