Upgraded N17 still in the planning but at least a decade away



Any start on work to build a new N17 route south from Sligo is still at least a decade away.

That’s according to Director of Service for Roads Tom Kilfeather.

Mr. Kilfeather was commenting after the new N4 bypass of Collooney to Castlebaldwin got funding this week in the budget.

He says a lot of road projects are now coming to fruition for county Sligo including the Western Distributer road and the enhancement of O’Connell Street next year.

But he says while the N17 project between Collooney and Knock is still a long way off – progress is being made:
