Donegal Hotelier: ‘The government has turned its back on rural Ireland’



The General Manager of a Donegal Hotel says the government has ‘turned its back on rural Ireland’ with the decision to increase the VAT rate for the hospitality sector back up to 13.5%.

Hotel and restaurant owners are just two sectors of the industry condemning the move in yesterday’s budget.

They say ahead of Brexit it will certainly result in people visiting areas like the west of Ireland less and will lead to less hours and even job losses for people in the industry.
