Communities losing post offices question how An Post is making the call



Two rural communities in the north west are now questioning how An Post is making its decisions on closing post offices.

Among the queries now being raised by people in both Maugherow in north Sligo and Gurteen in south Sligo is how An Post calculates the population needed in an area to keep a post office open.

On Monday, it was confirmed that a submission from people in Maugherow in an effort to retain their post office was unsuccessful.

Yesterday afternoon, it emerged it’s a similar situation in relation to the village of Gurteen.
