Sligo Councillors hit back at criticism for not turning up at presidential nominations meeting



Sligo councillors have hit back at criticism of two members of the council for not attending a recent meeting to nominate a candidate for president.

Independent Councillor Michael Clarke and Fianna Fail Councillor Keith Henry had each put down motions for the meeting nominating candidates.

But since both candidates — Sean Gallagher and Peter Casey — had each got enough nominations, the councillors withdrew their motions and did not attend the meeting.

However both councillors were criticised for their non-attendance.
