Minister looks at Fair Deal-type scheme to ease backlog for people waiting for homehelp



The Minister of State for Older People says he’s looking at a ‘Fair Deal’ type scheme for the homecare sector.

Minister Jim Daly has indicated that there will be more money for homehelp in next week’s budget.

He was responding to a query in the Dail by Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny who said that many people in the North West are being forced to pay for private homehelp because of the backlog in the public service.

Another TD told the Dail that no new homecare packages had been approved in his area since June.
