The Sligo Coast to Coast is taking place today.
The 10 mile walk began at 11am from the Sligo Rugby Club and is finishing up at Rosses Point, Sligo, while to the 10 mile run is getting underway around now.
There is also a 5km walk which began from Sligo Yacht club in Rosses Point at 11.30am this morning.
The route will take people through Sligo Town on the R292 and onto the R291.
Proceeds are in aid of Family Carers ireland and the North West Hospice.
Gardaí are advising motorists to please be aware of the participants on the road and to drive safely.
