Major boost for Strandhill surfing centre

The proposed development of a Surf Centre of Excellence in Strandhill, County Sligo, has been given a major boost, thanks to a capital grant of more than a million euro from Failte Ireland.

It’s envisaged that the centre will be a flagship project on the Wild Atlantic Way as well as copper-fastening Strandhill’s reputation as a leading international surfing area.

It’s hoped that the new centre may be up and running in two years, all going well.

Independent Councillor Declan Bree is chairman of the group behind the project, the Strandhill Maritime Board.
