Average trolley-wait in Letterkenny could be solved by opening empty ward



A Donegal TD says it’s nothing short of a scandal that a ward with 19 beds remains closed at Letterkenny University Hospital despite the ongoing trolley crisis.

Sinn Fein’s Pearse Doherty raised the issue in the Dail today.

It’s a timely motion considering there are 27 people waiting on trolleys at the hospital today.

He told the Dail that last year the average number of patients waiting on trolleys daily was 19 and the reopening of this short-stay ward is an obviously solution to the problem:
