Funding boost for groups in Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim



More than €600,000 additional funding has been allocated for the North West under the Community Enhancement Scheme.

Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring has  announced an additional €8m nationally for the initiative.

Leitrim is to receive €54,000 bringing the total allocation for this year to €183,000.

Sligo will receive €116,000 with a new total of €250,000.

Donegal will receive the largest additional funding of €441,000, bring the yearly allocation to €600,000.

The extra money will be used to fund community projects that have already applied in May of this year and were unsuccesfull in securing funding under the initial allocation.

Boyle based Fine Gael Senator Frank Feighan says the response to the programme has been extremely positive.
