Sligo councillor wants assurances money is provided for new psychiatric unit



A Sligo councillor is calling for the HSE to commit to ensuring the necessary funding is available for the new psychiatric unit in Sligo.

On Friday the HSE denied claims that there would be a delay in building the unit.

The HSE confirmed that it had approved the construction contract for the new 25 bed-unit and it would be built as planned by 2020.

Independent Councillor Marie Casserly is welcoming the statement but says the the HSE needs to commit to the ongoing funding of the unit every year until it’s complete:
