A campaign seeking support for the construction a greenway from Athenry in Galway to Collooney in Sligo received a huge boost yesterday when large numbers attended a special march in Tuam.
The campaign, organised by the “Western Rail Trail Campaign”, wants to preserve the route of the closed rail line and use it as a tourism and leisure greenway attraction.
Yesterday in Tuam thousands attended a march which was aimed at persuading Galway County Council to vote yes on a feasibility study of the project.
Local campaigner Brendan Quinn has been telling Ocean FM News that the number’s that took part in yesterday’s march was significant.
