Afforestation affecting water quality and fish stocks in Leitrim claims Councillor



A Leitrim Councillor claims afforestation is a main contributing factor to a number of problems with the quality of water in lakes in the North West.

Fianna Fail Councillor Justin Warnock feels that sitka spruce plantations in Leitrim are damaging the stock levels of fish in lakes and rivers.

He says it may also be having an adverse effect on the quality of drinking water.

He says a stop needs to be put to the vast plantations in Leitrim:
