Extra day to be added to Ploughing Championships after cancellation today



The organisers of the National Ploughing Championships say they had to call the event off today for safety reasons.

Storm Ali has resulted in high winds on site in Screggan in Tullamore, Co Offaly.

It’s the first time the event has been cancelled because of weather.

It was postponed in 1965 for a week because of the snow.

The farming festival is due to go ahead tomorrow and people can use their tickets from today.

Assistant Managing Director of the National Ploughing Association Anna Marie McHugh says they’re also exploring the idea of an extra day:
