Bishop of Kilmore says new safeguarding review reflects progress in dealing with abuse



The Bishop of Kilmore says the publication of a second review into safeguarding in the Diocese is a positive step.

Bishop Leo O’Reilly has welcomed the completion of the second review of safeguarding practice in the Diocese of Kilmore which covers Cavan, parts of Leitrim, Sligo and Fermanagh.

The review was carried out by the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland during February and March 2018.

The Bishop has been vocal in his called for the Pope to set up a tribunal to investigate incidents of historic sex abuse.

He says he believes there has been much progress in the way the clergy deals with allegations of abuse and the safeguarding of children:
