Donegal TD says he is in ‘shock’ over how Danielle McLaughlins family is being treated

A Donegal TD says he is ‘shocked’ at the way a Donegal family has been treated after requesting to meet the Taoiseach.

Danielle McLaughlin from Buncranna was killed while in Goa, India in April 2017. She was 28.

On Thursday, the McLaughlin family received a letter from the Department of the Taoiseach where it stated that it ‘is not possible and indeed probably not worthwhile’ to meet the Taoiseach as it was suggested Danielle was not an irish citizen.

This turned out to be an error on the Departments part as she had dual British/Irish citizenship having being born in Glasgow, and at the time was travelling on a British passport.

TD for Donegal, Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher said ‘the shocking manner in which this grieving
family have been treated is impossible to put into words.’
