The Sligo Stages Rally is taking place today.
Back in July, the rally had to be postponed due to bad road conditions during the heatwave.
The first stage is around Geevagh/Riverstown with the first car due to leave at 9.45am this morning.
The cars are expected to begin arriving back at the Sligo park Hotel at around 5.15pm this evening where the overall winner will be selected.
Gardaí are advising motorists that they expect increased traffic around Collooney to Ballintogher, Ballygawley to Ballyfarnon and around the N17 Tubburcurry to Collooney as well as the Sligo Park Hotel later this evening.
One of the organisers, Padraic Boylan from the Connacht Motor Club says it’s a contributor to the local economy.
