Fine Gael: Road hauliers set to be most affected by any increase in carbon tax



It’s been claimed road hauliers in the north west will be among the worst hit if there’s an increase in carbon tax in the budget.

Now, a Sligo Fine Gael activist is calling for the government to clarify what it’s intending to do about the tax.

Blaine Gaffney says an increase in the tax would seriously hit small and medium road transport companies as well as those in the region who travel long distances to work.

His comments come after the Taoiseach said the carbon tax may have to be increased in order to meet the government’s climate change goals.
