McSharry – ‘Government silence on Post Office closures deafening’



A Fianna Fail TD in the North West says the silence from government on the threat to post offices is ‘deafening’.

An Post confirmed yesterday that it is to seek a new postmaster to run the Cliffoney Post Office in North Sligo for another three years.

It’s one of over 20 in this region threatened with closure.

But Deputy Marc MacSharry says the fight is not over and the government needs to step up and provide the
€8m a year that would save these post offices.
