Donegal Councillor says Church should pay for Pope’s visit in full



A Donegal Cllr has said that the Catholic Church and not the taxpayer should pay for the Popes visit to Ireland.

The cost of the 32-hour visit of Pope Francis is expected to cost about €1 million an hour.

The Catholic Church, through its parishioners and donors mostly, will stump up much of the costs of the first papal visit in almost four decades, but Irish taxpayers will have to pay for some of the costs.
