Well known Donegal fiddle player Tommy Peoples has died



Well known Donegal fiddle player Tommy Peoples has died.

Mr. Peoples was born in 1948 near St. Johnston, Co. Donegal gaining prominence in the Irish music scene in the 1960’s.

He had moved to Dublin at this time where he played with The Bothy Band and the Green Linnet Céilí Band, 1691.

Tommy won a number of accolades in his life such as the first TG4 Traditional Musician of the Year Award in 1998.

In recent years he hadn’t performed but continued to compose music and published his compositions in 2015.

His funeral takes place on Tuesday in Ennis Cathederal at 12 noon.
