Donegal’s season comes to an end with Tyrone defeat

Donegal are out of this season’s All-Ireland Senior Football Championship race.

Two second half goals from substitutes Harry Loughran and Declan McClure saw the Red Hand County come from 1-6 to 0-6 behind at the break to inflict a first defeat of Donegal at Mac Cumhaill Park since 2010.

Michael Murphy had given Declan Bonner’s side the advantage at half-time, after he netted brilliantly late in the half when Ryan McHugh intercepted Niall Morgan’s short kickout.

Loughran’s goal put Tyrone in to a lead they were never to relinquish midway through the second half, and McClure netted his side’s second goal in the ninth minute of injury-time at the end to secure a seven-point win, on a scoreline of 2-17 to 1-14.

Tyrone will face Monaghan in the All-Ireland semi-final next Sunday afternoon in Croke Park.
