Patterson departs Derry ahead of Rovers tie

Striker Rory Patterson has made a surprise switch from Derry City to Irish League side Crusaders ahead of the Candystripes’ two games against Sligo Rovers over the next four days.

The sides clash in the league in the Brandywell this evening, and meet again in an EA Sports Cup semi-final at the Showgrounds on Monday.

Rovers will be without a recognised right-back for this evening’s game, with Gary Boylan’s season ended by a cruciate knee injury, and Seamus Sharkey facing a one-match suspension following his sending-off against Shamrock Rovers last week.

Winger Adam Wixted is also a doubt for this evening’s game, after he was involved in a minor car accident last week.

Kick-off tonight is at 7.45pm.

Despite playing the same team twice in quick succession, Rovers boss Gerard Lyttle says that they need to take each game individually…

Second and third also go head to head in the Premier Division this evening.

Cork City head to the R-S-C to take on Munster rivals Waterford.

The Leesiders will replace Dundalk at the top of the table with a win.

City manager John Caulfield is anticipating a derby atmosphere.

There is a relegation ‘six-pointer’ down for decision at Dalymount Park tonight, where Bohemians will host Limerick.

Bottom club Bray Wanderers travel to St Patrick’s Athletic.

In the First Division, Finn Harps can maintain their promotion push with a win at home to Wexford in Ballybofey.

Kick-off at Finn Park is at 8pm.

Ahead of the game, Harps have confirmed the signing of former Sligo Rovers U19 striker Fintan Borotto.

The other games in the First Division tonight see Drogheda host Galway, Shelbourne at home to Cobh, and UCD against Cabinteely.

In the U15 League tonight, Conor O’Grady’s Sligo Rovers host Damien Duff’s Shamrock Rovers at the Showgrounds from 8pm.
