A 50-year-old man has appeared in Sligo District Court after a major cannabis seizure in Co Leitrim.
23kg of cannabis resin with a street value of €140,000 was seized in Carrick-on-Shannon on Tuesday night.
50-year-old Fintan Fitzgerald, of Main Street, Manorhamilton appeared in Sligo District Court charged with the control and supply of drugs, namely cannabis resin.
On Tuesday night 23kg of cannabis resin, with a street value of €135,000, was seized in Carrick-on-Shannon, after a car was stop and searched.
Fitzgerald was arrested, and in follow up searches of his address in Manorhamilton, another €5,000 of the drug was seized, along with a large sum of money.
The defendant was refused bail and was remanded in custody to Castlerea prison to appear before Harristown District Court on the 3rd August, 2018.
