A Sligo/Leitrim TD is calling for GP visit cards to be given to carers without delay.
Legislation to provide carers with the cards was passed in the Dail and Seanad earlier this week.
Fianna Fail Deputy Eamon Scanlon says carers give millions of hours of their time looking after people, saving the State about ten billion euro in unpaid care every year.
He says families make huge sacrifices when they become carers and deserve to every support:
