Fine Gael representative says An Post deal will not save rural post offices

A local Fine Gael representative has claimed a deal between An Post and the Irish Postmasters Union will be the final in the coffin for rural post offices.

Earlier this year the Irish Postmaster’s Union signed up to a deal with An Post to modernise the network.

It allows for a €50m investment in expanding services and agrees there will be no compulsory closures of post offices around the country.

But Thomas Walsh, says this deal is bad for rural post offices and will eventually close them.
