A motorist in Co Sligo had a lucky escape over the weekend after he hit a deer.
Gardai attentded the collision on the main Sligo to Dublin road, on the N4 near Ballydrehid, Sligo
The car, which was on the inside lane travelling towards Collooney was unable to avoid the animal as it jumped out across the vehicles path.
Luckily for the occupants it did not go through the windscreen and cause any injuries to the people involved. The deer died in the crash though.
There are warning signs for deer in the area. And Gardai are now warning motorists to drive with care as this accident happened in broad daylight.
