Finn Valley’s Sommer Lecky claims silver at World U20 Championships



It’s been a historic weekend in Irish sport with Ireland doubled its all-time medals haul at the World U20 Athletics Championships.

Two silver medals have been bagged in the women’s 4-by-100 metres relay and today, in the women’s high jump.

Sommer Lecky of Finn Valley in Donegal has finished second in this with a clearance of 1-metre-920, a new Irish Junior record, with gold going to Belarus’ Karyna Taranda.

Yesterday, Ireland pulled off a massive feat in taking silver in the women’s 4-by-100 final behind Germany, but ahead of Britain.
