Harps defeat Rovers in Mark Farren Cup



The Finn Harps U17s progressed to the quarter-finals of the Mark Farren Cup after defeating last year’s finalists Sligo Rovers 4-3 at the Curragh last night.

Declan Boyle’s Harps team went in 1-1 at the break after Carndonagh’s Luke Rudden had given them the lead, only for Tyler Stallard to score for the visitors, who went ahead through Liam Walsh in the second half.

Harps captain Darragh Ellison made it 2-2 scoring at the second attempt after his penalty was saved by Rovers keeper tommy Scahill.

Carrigart’s Ronan Gallagher put Harps back in front and Gabby Aduaka then made it 4-2, before Jack O’Connor scored a third for Rovers at the death.

Meanwhile, Rovers’ U19 team advanced to the next round of the Enda McGuill Cup last night thanks Mark Byrne’s late winner in their 1-0 defeat of Longford Town.
