The General Manager of Co Sligo Golf Club says the aim is to host the Irish Open within the next three years.
Ballyliffin in Co Donegal hosted a hugely successful Irish Open last week, with almost 95,000 people attending.
Next year the event is going to Lahinch in Co Clare.
The GM at the Rosses Point club, David O’ Donovan, says they are aiming to be the hosts before 2021:
