Consultant says €100m investment needed at Sligo University Hospital

The Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Sligo University Hospital says the hospital is currently “not fit for purpose”.

Dr Fergal Hickey says the hospital needs a new block, consisting of a new emergency department, radiology department, a new theatre complex and a new intensive care unit.

The new block would cost in excess of €100m.

And while the cost is excessive, Dr Hickey says it is without doubt what is needed.
