A man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault at a house in Sligo town last week.
The attack happened at a house on River road in Sligo on the morning of the 20th of June between 9am and 12 noon.
A man in his early 80s was assaulted sustaining head injuries and was locked in an upstairs room of the house.
It’s understood the assailant stole the victim’s car and fled the county.
Gardai have confirmed to Ocean FM that they have arrested a man in his 50s in connection with this incident and he’s being questioned at Wexford Garda Station.
Investigations are continuing.
