Man dies following drowning incident in Killybegs



A man has died following a drowning incident in Killybegs Harbour.

Killybegs Coast Guard rushed to the scene after reports that a person was in the water around 1.40am yesterday morning.

Both the Gardai and the ambulance service also rushed to the scene.

However, it is understood the man, 50s, was already deceased when they emergency services reached him.

Local sources say the man is a French national who was working on a local boat docked in the harbour.

The man’s body was removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a postmortem is due to take place today.
