Community in Glangevlin, Co Cavan, fighting to save its school



A community in Glangevlin, Co Cavan, is launcing a campaign to retain its local two-teacher school.

Curravagh National School has 15 pupils — but four of these are leaving this year.

That could lead to the loss of a teacher, which in turn could result in the eventual closure of the school itself.

As part of its campaign, the local community has launched web site and a Facebook page called ‘Stand with Glan’

They will also hold a fun day this Saturday to showcase the area and what it has to offer to families who might wish to come and live there, and, hopefully, enrol their children in the school.
