Upto 6,000 farmers on the GLAS commonage payments are still waiting to be paid their final 15% from 2017.
Their are currently around 9,000 commange farmers in GLAS on upwards of 4,000 commonages, however, upto 6,000 farmers are still waiting for their final payments of last year.
The IFA Hill Farming Chairman, Flor McCarth said that ‘when GLAS was introduced in 2015, there was a clear commitment given that farmers would not be impacted when there was a problem that was not the farmers fault.’
Mr McCathry is meeting with the Department of Agriculture today to attempt to remedy the situation.
