Sligo Rovers are to honour one of their greatest servants as they host a testimonial for the legendary Raffaele Cretaro on Saturday 28th July with a 6pm kick-off in the Showgrounds. The opposition will be a Raffaele Cretaro XI made up of some of the best players that have played alongside the Tubbercurry native over the years. Confirmed so far are Ciaran Kelly, Richard Brush, Jason McGuinness, Romuald Boco, Danny Ventre, Joseph Ndo and Anthony Elding, with more names to be announced in the next few weeks.
The Tubber Tornado is second on the club’s all-time appearance list and is closing in on Tony Fagan’s record number of league appearances. He is also the second highest goalscorer in the club’s history and one of its most decorated players having won the First Division (2005), the FAI Cup twice (2011 & 2013), the Premier Division (2012) and the Setanta Sports Cup (2014). Tickets are priced at €10 for adults and €5 for students/OAPs/children. Further details on the game and when and where tickets will be on sale will be announced in due course.
