New landmark building planned for Cranmore in Sligo

A new landmark building is being planned for Sligo town.

The proposed stand-out structure is for a unique community centre to be built in Cranmore.

It’s expected to cost up to €3m and will be visible from a wide surrounding area, particularly at night when it will be specially lit up.

It will be located on the centre block in Cranmore, where houses have been demolished, making it an impressive focal point for the local community.

The next stage in the project is to prepare a plan for submission to the Department of the Environment, Planning and Local Government for approval.

Sligo County Council Director of Services Bartley Gavin says it’s hoped the new centre will be another eye-catching building among the many landmarks already in Sligo town.
