Calls are being made on Sligo County Council to spray-paint dog mess bright pink in a bid to shock irresponsible owners into changing their bad habits.
Councils in the UK have run similar campaigns which proved successful in tackling dog fouling.
Litter officers patrol designated dog mess black-spots and use a spray-gun to blast any offending discoveries.
