Tributes are being paid to the late Joey Murrin.
The influential fisherman was a well known figure with Fianna Fail TD Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher saying; Joey was an exceptional person, who used his talents, attributes and gifts extremely well for the direct benefit of others’ further stating that ‘He devoted his entire life to Fisheries and improving the living standards in coastal communities’
Independent Donegal TD Thomas Pringle said ‘Joey was the voice of the fishing industry in Killybegs for many years…He always spoke with passion on behalf of the fishermen he worked hard to represent and will always be remembered for his hard work.’
Chairman of the Killybegs Fisherman’s Association, Seán O’Donoghue, said he ‘fought tooth and nail’ for Irish fishing.
