Report suggests firms are taking significant action to prepare for Brexit

A new report commissioned by the government suggests over half of firms are taking significant action to prepare for Brexit.

It’s warned there needs to be a relentless approach to competitiveness if companies are to avoid being significantly hit by the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

The sectors that expressed the highest concern on average about Brexit were chemical and pharmaceutical companies, and the dairy and drinks sectors.

The report suggests the introduction of trade tariffs and a hard border with Northern Ireland are what Irish businesses are most concerned about.
