Breastcheck’s new Sligo Town location to be up and running by end of June

Breastcheck is set to return to a new location in Sligo Town at the end of June.

It follows anger expressed locally that women were being asked to go to Tubbercurry for their check-ups.

Breastcheck has confirmed that they are moving to a new location at the Homecare Pharmacy, on the Pearse Road, in Sligo.

The move will mean that the screening unit will be located slightly closer to Sligo town than the previous location at Carraroe retail park.

There was huge controversy after the new unit was going to be based in Collooney.

Subsequently local businesses in Sligo Town offered their premises for use and the Homecare pharmacy location site met all the criteria.

Breastcheck confirmed to Ocean FM News this week that the new unit will be fully operational from the end of June when women will begin receiving invitations to attend for their mammograms.

They are urging women especially those being called for the first time when they reach the age of 50 to attend for this potentially life-saving screening service.
