Ballyshannon swimmer strike gold at community games finals



There were a number of successes for Ballyshannon swimmers at last weekend’s community games national finals at the University of Limerick.

On Saturday, Cora Rooney claimed a double gold in the 50m butterfly and U16 relay, along with team-mates Niamh Hughes, Clodagh O’Connor, Anna McCaffrey, Caoinhe McCauley and Katie McMullin.

Niamh Hughes claimed a fourth-placed medal in the 50m freestyle as well.

On Sunday, Cian Rooney was first to medal with a bronze in the 50m butterfly.

Darragh Summerville claimed bronze as well in the 50m backstroke.

James Monaghan finished fourth in the 50m freestyle.

And the U14 relay team also claimed fourth-placed medals. The team was Darragh Summerville, Alan Vaughan, Daire McDevitt, Caolan McCauley, Killian Bradshaw and James Monaghan.
