Locals report odours coming from the sewage system in north Sligo



The Authorities say they have moved to address reports of odours in the Grange and Mullaghmore areas in recent weeks.

Locals had again been complaining of foul smells and waste leaking out into the eastern side of the village last month.

The wastewater treatment plant needs to be upgraded and in the meantime the holding tank has to be emptied regularly by the Council.

Irish Water says this was done recently and there should be no more problems with effluent leaking out into the sea.

Local Independent Councillor Marie Casserly says it’s an issue that needs ongoing monitoring over the summer months:
