County Sligo Swimming Club Notes

Representing County Sligo Swimming Club, Danielle Farrell showed both talent and determination in achieving a massive 8 wins and 3 bronze position placings at the 2018 Regional Youth & Senior Long Course Championships for Connacht/Munster this weekend.
Sligo was proud of the performances of all it’s athletes from CSSC and a full report on this important Championships can be read in next week’s edition.
Meanwhile, Sligo hosted it’s annual Open Swimming Meet which was attended by 205 swimmers from clubs in Longford, Ballina, Roscommon, Westport, Carrick on Shannon, Claremorris and Kingdom in Kerry.
There was plenty of action with some very tight races and as hoped for at this time of year, a plethora of Personal Bests for the majority of swimmers. In total CSSC swimmers competed in 210 races over the course of the gala, with the addition of relays, two of which were won by CSSC teams.
In addition to the swimming, the club held a draw for an Irish Rugby Grand Slam Jersey 2018, signed by 26 of the Irish players who won this occalade. What a prize! It was won by Yvonne Coleman, Gurteen and the winning ticket was sold by Helen Fitzsimons of CSSC. The club raised €10,000 through the raffle due to hard work of many parents and swimmers and the generosity of families, friends and members of the public who value and support our sport. Thankyou to one and all who bought and sold tickets.
