There is now an opportunity to acquire a building in Tubbercurry that could be used to extend the Garda Station in the town.
That’s according to Fine Gael Councillor in south Sligo Dara Mulvey who says the former State-occupied building next to the current station has recently come on the market.
Cllr Mulvey is calling on the OPW and Minister for Justice to ensure it’s secured for the local Gardai and community.
There are 10 Gardai and 2 sergeants based in station in Tubbercurry.
But Councillor Mulvey says the building is totally out-dated and is inadequate for modern-day needs:
