Homeless man says he will continue to sleep outside Sligo Council offices until he is found accommodation

A homeless man, who has been sleeping outside the Sligo County offices at night time, says he will continue to do so until the local authority finds him somewhere to live.

Paul Palmer, who is 62 today, has been homeless since 2013.

He says he cannot find somewhere to live in the Sligo area and a number of landlords have refused to accept his HAP payment.

He says his decision to sleep outside the Council offices is a form of protest as he feels that the Council needs to face up to the housing crisis in the county:

Meanwhile Sligo County Council say that they have offered Mr Palmer help and that he is entitled to a housing assistance payment. The Council also say they are available to assist him access accommodation under the HAP scheme
