Funeral of pilot from South Sligo takes place today



Air accident investigators are probing a plane crash which claimed the life of a dad-of-two in Mayo on Friday.

Pilot Michael McCarrick, who is originally from County Sligo, was killed after the light aircraft he was flying came down near Ballina in north Mayo.

The news of the accident caused shock throughout hometown of Doomore, Cloonacool, near Tubbercurry.

Mr McCarrick’s funeral will take place today, in Ballina at 12.30pm with cremation after at Lakeland’s Crematorium, Cavan.

He is survived by his wife Breege, and teenage children Finn and Aoife.
