Minister insists boat owners not allowed bring people onto Inishmurray Island

The Transport Minister has said that Sligo boat owners will not be allowed onto Inishmurray until there are proper landing facilities.

The island off County Sligo is famous for having one of Ireland’s best-preserved early monastic sites.

Last month the Marine Survey Office (MSO) attached to the Department has warned a small number of boat owners who provide day trips to the island that this practice must cease with immediate effect because of health and safety reasons.
