Leitrim GAA ‘Up for the Match’ event in New York

The Leitrim GAA Supporters’ Club, in partnership with the Leitrim GAA Club, New York, will host a special event in Rory Dolan’s on McLean Avenue on Saturday, May 5th at 8pm, to mark the big game.

The event will include an ‘Up for the Match’ panel discussion hosted by former Leitrim player Colin Regan. Special guests will include 1994 Connacht winning manager John O’Mahony, who went on to win two All-Ireland titles with Galway; Leitrim All Star Seamus Quinn, selector with the current squad; and local legends Mike Carthy, Frankie Dwyer, and Frank Brady. Expect plenty of predictions, recollections, and banter about days gone by and the big match to come.

The night will also see the launch of an exciting fundraising drive, supported by a New York based committee, to raise funds to finish Leitrim’s Centre of Excellence in Annaduff. The ambitious plans will complete a centre that will serve Leitrim’s players for generations to come, while ensuring that their facilities are on par with any other county in Ireland. A special feature – The Leitrim Wall – has been incorporated into the design allowing Leitrim people everywhere the opportunity to contribute to the centre in a way they can be proud of for years to come. Details of this unique opportunity will be unveiled on the night.

The event will include an update on the coaching and skills plan currently being implemented by Leitrim GAA, plus a special presentation by Kinlough native, Padraic White, former CEO of the IDA Ireland, entitled: ‘Leitrim’s Alive: its dynamic business and tourism story.’
